Central bank governor chairs broad meeting to address challenges facing gold exports

Khartoum, Sudan ·

Sudan's central bank governor, Amna Mirghani Hassan al-Tom, held an expanded meeting with the minister of minerals, the gold export window, the Sudanese standards and metrology authority, private gold exporters and relevant security and oversight bodies. The talks focused on challenges facing the gold export sector and irregularities in the remittance of export proceeds.

Gold is one of Sudan's main exports and a significant source of foreign currency for an economy that has faced a long-running shortage of hard currency.
