Al-Dosari calls for an insurance umbrella and support for fishermen

Bahrain ·

MP Ali Saqr Al-Dosari said the draft marine fishing law should be fully reviewed, with fishermen from across Bahrain's regions heard, since their challenges differ from area to area. He stressed protecting fishing as part of the national heritage and a source of food security, and said Bahraini fishermen should not be treated like foreign labour.

Bahrain's legislature has an elected Council of Representatives and an appointed Shura Council, and both chambers debate draft laws before they are adopted.
