Mohammad Aref Shahbakhsh Executed

Iran ·

Iran's Judiciary Media Center announced the execution of Mohammad Aref Shahbakhsh, who had been convicted of security-related offences. He had been sentenced to death for baghi and moharebeh over an armed attack in Khash County, according to Mizan News Agency.

Iran's penal code treats moharebeh (enmity against God) and baghi (armed rebellion) as capital offences, and human rights groups have repeatedly criticised the use of the death penalty in security-related cases.
