Iran says ready to help draft global treaty on plastic pollution

Iran ·

Iran said it was ready to contribute effectively to drafting a global treaty to combat plastic pollution, insisting that the agreement respect countries' national circumstances, development rights and capacities. The announcement came during a meeting on the sidelines of the 17th Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity (COP17).

The Convention on Biological Diversity is a United Nations treaty on conserving nature, adopted in 1992, whose parties meet periodically to review progress.
