Al-Zaidi urges INIS free of political quotas

Iraq ·

According to a statement from the prime minister's media office, al-Zaidi stressed that the intelligence service must be kept free of quota-sharing along party, factional and sectarian lines. He made the remarks during a visit to the service's headquarters.

Since 2003, Iraq's political system has shared government posts among its sectarian and ethnic communities, a practice known as muhasasa (quota-sharing) that critics say fuels patronage.
