Taunsa farmers hit hard by closure of Chashma Canal

Taunsa, Pakistan ·

The closure of the Chashma Right Bank Canal, particularly its stretch in Punjab, has badly affected farmers. They blame inadequate repairs and maintenance, along with water theft, and say neither provincial nor federal governments are responding to their complaints.

The Chashma Right Bank Canal is an inter-provincial irrigation canal that draws water from the Indus River to serve farmland in southern Punjab.
