Academics: Throne speech sets the stage for a more effective phase of accountability and oversight

Jordan ·

King Abdullah II delivered the throne speech at the opening of the third ordinary session of the 20th National Assembly. Speaking to the state news agency Petra, academics and specialists said the speech stresses that everyone is subject to the law without exception and calls for greater integrity and transparency in state institutions.

In Jordan, the king opens each ordinary session of the bicameral National Assembly (Majlis al-Umma) with a throne speech that sets out the government's priorities.
