Ahead of his referral to the investigating judge, the file of the "Tadamon Butcher" is handed to the Public Prosecutor's Office

Damascus, Syria ·

The Ministry of Justice announced that the Public Prosecutor's Office has received the file on Amjad Youssef, the main accused in the 2013 massacres in the Tadamon district of southern Damascus. The ministry said the step paves the way for referring him to an investigating judge, with public prosecution proceedings opened against him and his accomplices based on evidence and investigations passed on by the Counter-Terrorism Department.

Tadamon, a district in southern Damascus, was a battleground during Syria's civil war, which began in 2011. Human rights groups have accused forces of the former Syrian government of abuses there.
