Taiz governor appointed by Sanaa says city fully liberated except some central neighbourhoods

Taiz, Yemen ·

The governor, Ahmed al-Masawa, made the remarks on Tuesday, and his statement also refers to Saudi-backed mobilisations and to a figure of 70% in the city.

Yemen has been divided since the Houthi movement (Ansar Allah) took control of Sanaa in 2014, and rival forces have contested Taiz for years. Saudi Arabia has backed forces aligned with the internationally recognised government in the war.
