Iran opens military training centre in Tehran, plans to train one million volunteers

Tehran, Iran ·

According to the semi-official ISNA news agency, this is the third military training centre Iran has opened in Tehran, and the plan covers paramilitary volunteers nationwide. The announcement comes amid fears of renewed conflict with the United States and Israel.

The Basij is a paramilitary volunteer force that operates under Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), and Iran's relations with the United States and Israel have long been marked by confrontation.
