Iranian bank subsidiaries fire employees over alleged hijab violations

Iran ·

Several employees of Bank Pasargad subsidiaries were fired or barred from their workplaces, according to people familiar with the matter who spoke to Iran International. The moves come amid tighter enforcement of the country's mandatory hijab laws.

Iranian law requires women to wear the hijab in public, and enforcement of the rule has long been a source of tension in Iranian society.
