Higher Education discusses mechanisms for merging Qamishli and Ain Arab universities

Qamishli, Syria ·

Minister Marwan al-Halabi met on Thursday with members of the committee overseeing the merger, discussing how to carry out Higher Education Council decisions to integrate both universities into the national higher education system. The talks also covered settling the status of faculties, students, and teaching and administrative staff.

Qamishli and Ain al-Arab (Kobani) are towns in northeastern Syria, an area that has been largely outside direct central government control for much of the conflict that began in 2011.
