3 conditions for information to gain trade secret status.. and 3 years in prison and a 1 million riyal fine for violators

Saudi Arabia ·

The Saudi Authority for Intellectual Property has put the draft trade secrets law out for public consultation on the Istitlaa platform. It sets conditions for information to qualify as a trade secret, defines the rights of owners, and sets rules on obtaining, using and disclosing such secrets. Violators could face up to three years in prison and a fine of one million riyals, with penalties doubled for repeat offences.

The Saudi Authority for Intellectual Property oversees intellectual property policy in the kingdom, part of a wider effort to diversify the economy under Vision 2030.
